Support for Microsoft Skype
Based on what we just discussed, VMware Horizon now supports Microsoft Skype with the Horizon Virtualization Pack for Skype for Business. This includes full support for VoIP and video. The following diagram shows the process of how the client works:

To enable Skype, you need to ensure that the Horizon Virtualization Pack for Skype for Business is installed on the endpoint device, along with the Horizon Client and Microsoft Skype client. VMware has implemented Microsoft's Dynamic Virtual Channels (DVC) inside the PCoIP protocol to enable this feature. DVC provides the communication path between the virtual desktop machine and the client endpoint.
There are some limitations to the solution that should be mentioned:
- Tuning pages are not available for the audio device and the video device.
- Multi-view video is not supported.
- The recording of conversations is not supported.
- Call delegation is not supported.
- The response group agent anonymization feature is not supported.
- Joining meetings anonymously is not supported.
- Using the Skype for Business VDI plugin with a Skype for Business Phone Edition device is not supported.
